Slovenia and Puerto Rico to meet for the first time

 

Thessaloniki, Greece, June 25, 2016 - Slovenia will play against Puerto Rico on the second day of the FIVB Volleyball World League 2016 Group 3 tournament in Thessaloniki. This will be the first ever meeting between these two teams at a major tournament.

Head-to-Head
• This will be the first ever meeting between Slovenia and Puerto Rico at a major tournament.
• Slovenia will meet a NORCECA side at the World League for the first time.

Slovenia
• Slovenia have won their first four World League matches on their debut. They can become the second country to win their first five matches in their debut year, after Cuba won their first 13 matches on their World League debut in 1991.
• Mitja Gasparini has scored 60 points, including 11 aces.
• Dejan Vincic has an average of 9.4 setups per set.
• Klemen Cebulj has a 61.8% efficiency as receiver.

Puerto Rico
• Puerto Rico have lost three and won one of their four matches in the 2016 World League.
• They lost their first five matches in 2015.
• Puerto Rico can equal their two wins from the 2014 campaign.
• Steven Morales leads his team in scoring with 65 points.
