Boskan: Our goal is to be in the Final Four

Coach Boskan speaks to his players during their win against Spain

Mexico City, Mexico, June 19, 2016 - Marko Bojic led Montenegro’s tie-break thriller win against Spain 3-2 (25-27, 25-23, 25-18, 21-25, 15-13) on the last day of Pool B World League actions in Gimnasio Olimpico Juan de la Barrera in Mexico City.

Slobodan Boskan, Montenegro, coach: I am very pleased with finishing on top, but this is just one step towards our goal to be in the Final Four. This match was a high-levelled game, Spain played really good volleyball. There were good attacks, good defence and self-defence. Both of us failed in serves, due to the pressure at this high performance. The two best teams played tonight.

Andres Villena, Spain, player: I am glad with this weekend’s results. Montenegro is a very good team and we battled strong, reaching a tie-break. Yes we’re sad because of the loss but it’s a positive outcome. In next week’s performance we hope to be more confident and aiming to be in the final four”.

Fernando Muñoz, Spain, coach: Montenegro’s variations in their line-up were successful, they were looking for the best six on the court and they are taking a well battled victory. Both of our teams are young and the importance of a match like this is for our players to learn, we failed but it’s the way of winning experience and knowledge. We are leaving Mexico with many positive things; we played a close match against Mexico and this one, we were very close of finishing perfect. As I said before, it’s a young team and that comes with limitations, among them our physical condition.
