Tactical instructions in Chinese Taipei's win over Spain

Almaty, Kazakhstan, June 24, 2016 – Chinese Taipei capitalized on a great team effort to win 3-1 (25-20, 25-22, 24-26, 25-20) against Spain in Group 3 of the FIVB Volleyball World League. Coaches and captains shared their sentiments after Friday’s match at the Baluan Sholak Sports Palace Press Center.

Ke-Chou Chen, coach of Chinese Taipei: “I think today, we were lucky. I told my players to just enjoy the game and play their best and we were very lucky. Spain is a very strong team with a a lot of tall players so it was difficult for us to play against this.”

Chien-Chen Chen; captain of Chinese Taipei: “We had a very good opportunity to play against a very strong team like Spain, and somehow we played better than them, so we were lucky this way.”

Fernando Muñoz, coach of Spain: “Congratulations to the Chinese Taipei, they played very well during the game. On our part, we did not play at our usual level. We tried in some moments to do better in the game but we were not able to win. My players have learned a very good lesson about the game today. We did not play at 100 per cent of our level.”

Jorge Fernandez, captain of Spain: “Today they (Chinese Taipei) played better than we did, they were stronger. We started to play better in the second set but it was too late for us. I hope tomorrow we will play better.”
