Mexico City, Mexico, June 17, 2016 - There are new times ahead for the Spanish national team. Jorge Fernández will lead the team as its captain for the first time in the 2016 edition of the FIVB Volleyball World League. The middle blocker with 128 international caps looks forward to the new role in a team coached by Fernando Muñoz.

"I want to contribute with my experience, that some teammates may not have. Help them if they have problems… the things that any captain does," said Fernández.

"Four teams are very strong teams,"  he added. "We came here to win the three matches, but we know it will not be easy. We are focused and we have worked well and hard over the last month. If we play our best, we have options”.

The new team captain added: “We are a united team. We are very close as a team, and it is an important thing. When all the players and staff work hard and well, and they know what the focus is, everyone will fight to get wins.”
