Ljubljana, Slovenia, June 17, 2016 - In the opening match in pool A3 Venezuela defeated Tunisia in straight sets. Both Venezuela's coach Vincenzo Nacci and captian Kervin Pinerua were satisfied with a successful World League campaign kick off.

Vincenzo Nacci, coach of Venezuela: “The first game of the tournament against Tunisia was not an easy match. It was very tough for us as we did not have much practice after returning from the World Olympic Qualification Tournament in Japan. If Tunisia plays as today, it may be very difficult for us. There were some mistakes in our game in the first two sets. But, in the third set we played well and I hope that we will play at the same level also in the next two matches against Slovenia and Qatar as they will be very tough opponents.”

Fethi Mkaouar, coach of Tunisia: “We did not play at high level today. We hope that we would be more free and fresh for the opening game. But, we were not in our best form yet. I hope that tomorrow my team will play better. We are playing against Slovenia who again will be a tough opponent. But, in volleyball there is always a possibility to be improve. We will try to do our best in the next two matches.”

Kervin Pinerua, captain of Venezuela: “We are very happy with today’s result. To win with 3-0 is very important for the team. We were very focused today and wanted very much to win. We played well, served well, and are happy to win the match.”
