Toniutti continues to set the standard

Toniutti was the Best Setter as France won their first World League title last year

Krakow, Poland, July 13, 2016 - France captain Benjamin Toniutti will have his eye on two prizes as the FIVB Volleyball World League Finals gets underway on Wednesday.

Last year France won the title for the first time and Toniutti walked away with the Best Setter award. He will be aiming to do it again, as he leads the Best Setters ranking with 9.06 average per set including 299 running sets, 1 fault and 169 still sets from 469 attempts.

Earlier this season he ranked third in the 2016 FIVB Volleyball World Olympic Qualification tournament in Japan.

Toniutti was instrumental in France's 2015 World League triumph in Rio de Janeiro and will be grateful for a repeat in Poland. Last year also saw Tonuitti led French to the European Championship title, prevailing over Slovenia in the final.

In 2015 Toniutti signed contract with Polish club ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle and one year later he won the title of 2016 Polish champion with an individual honour of Most Valuable Player of the whole season.

A total of $100,000 is awarded to the best players of the Finals, which will be selected by the Control Committee in the following categories:
MVP, Best Setter, Best Opposite, Best Outside Spiker (2), Best Middle Blocker, Best Libero.
