Gianelli sets Italy for success

 

Simone Gianelli is the one of the young stars at the Final Six tournament

Krakow, Poland, July 16, 2016 - Born in 1996, Italy's Simone Gianelli is an up-and-coming star within volleyball which he is confirming at the FIVB Volleyball World League Finals Krakow 2016.

Gianelli is the best setter from the teams remaining in the tournament in Krakow with a 9.78 average by set: 88 running sets, two faults and 108 still sets from 198 attempts.





He plays for Trentino Volley but for the national tream he has already won the bronze medal at the European Championships in 2015 and a silver medal at the 2015 World Cup where he finished fifth in the overall Best Setter statistics.





It's not the first time that Gianelli has been in contention for an individual honour having collected the Best Setter award at the 2015 CEV European Championship (as the youngest in the history of the tournament).

A total of $100,000 is awarded to the best players of the Finals, which will be selected by the Control Committee in the following categories: MVP, Best Setter, Best Opposite, Best Outside Spiker (2), Best Middle Blocker, Best Libero.
