Mexico with second chance to beat Montenegro

 

Tunis, Tunisia, June 26, 2016 - Mexico and Montenegro meet again in FIVB Volleyball World League 2016 Group 3 on Sunday in Tunisia, after the European side claimed the victory in their first match on June 18.

Head-to-Head
• Montenegro won their first ever meeting with Mexico at the World League on 18 June 2016: 3-1. 
• Montenegro's Marko Bojic scored most points in that match (18), three more than Mexico's top scorer Tomas Aguilera (15). 
• Mexico could book consecutive victories over CEV sides at the World League for the first time, as they defeated Germany earlier this tournament. 
• Montenegro have won all three of their World League matches against NORCECA sides.  

Mexico
• Mexico lost 3-2 to Venezuela on Saturday. They have now lost 14 of their last 15 World League matches, the only exception being the 3-1 win over Germany on 19 June of this year.
• In total they have won three of 17 matches, their other two wins being their first two World League matches in 2014 (versus Tunisia and Turkey).
• Daniel Vargas and Samuel Cordova each scored 15 points for Mexico in their match against Venezuela. Both scored 12 points from spikes and three points from blocks.
• Tomas Aguilera is currently among Group 3's best blockers in the competition with 18 points from stuff blocks and an average of 0.82 per set.

Montenegro
• Montenegro have recorded back-to-back defeats for the first time in the World League. They have now lost four of their 13 matches in the competition.
• All four of their defeats in the competition came in five-setters.
• Two players scored more than 20 points in Montenegro's last match against Tunisia - Aleksandar Minic (23) and Marko Bojic (22).
• After five matches in Group 3, Marko Bojic is the best scorer in the competition. He scored 110 points of which 90 came from spikes, nine from stuff blocks and 11 from serves. His 11 aces are second most in Group 3 behind Slovenia's Mitja Gasparini (15).
• Gojko Cuk is among the best blockers in Group 3 with 24 points from stuff blocks, averaging one per set.
