Mexico look at ending 11-match losing streak

 

Mexico City, Mexico, June 18, 2016 - Hosts Mexico take on Montenegro as
they seek score their first win since 2014, putting an end to an
11-match losing streak.



Head-to-Head

- Mexico and Montenegro will meet for the first time at a major tournament.

- Last year, Montenegro played two World League matches against NORCECA side
Puerto Rico, winning both times (3-0, 3-1).


 

Mexico

- Mexico are still waiting on their third ever win in the World League. They
debuted with two wins in 2014, but they are winless in their next 11 matches.


- They could play two five-setters in a row in the World League for the
second time after 3-2 defeats against Tunisia (2014) and Greece (2015).


- Daniel Vargas and Samuel Cordova both scored 18 points in the 3-2 defeat
against Spain.


- Cordova had five points from blocks, only one behind Germany's Tim Broshog.

 

Montenegro

- Montenegro beat Germany 3-2 in their opening match and they can now repeat
their achievement from last year's World League by winning their first two
matches.


- They could play three five-setters in a row in the World League for the
first time. They had lost their final match of the 2015 World League 3-2
against Egypt.


- Marko Bojic scored 29 points against Germany. Only Spain's Andrés J. Vilena
had more points in the opening round (32).
