Battle of the unbeaten between Spain and Montenegro

 

Mexico City, Mexico, June 19, 2016 – An unbeaten start to the FIVB Volleyball World League is at stake when Spain and Montenegro clash in Mexico on Sunday.

Head-to-Head
· Spain and Montenegro will meet for the first time at a major tournament. 
· Spain did face Serbia and Montenegro five times at the World League (1997 and 2003), winning only one of these matches during the Intercontinental Round in 1997.

Spain
· Spain can win their first three World League matches. They managed to win their first five in 2015.
· In total Spain have won eight of their last nine World League matches (2014-2016), only losing 3-1 against Egypt on 21 June 2015.
· Andrés J. Vilena is Spain's top scorer with 54 points, including 50 spikes.
· Spain had 10 successful blocks in the 3-1 win against Germany, while scored 22 points.

Montenegro
· Montenegro can make it three wins in a row in the 2016 World League. Last year they won their first five matches.
· Montenegro had 19 successful blocks in the 3-1 win against Mexico.
· Marko Bojic has scored 47 points for Montenegro.
· Nikola Lakcevic has 23 digs this tournament, an average of 2.6 digs per set.
