Finland finished third in Group 2 Preliminary Round Pool E in the 2015 FIVB Volleyball World League, with four victories and eight losses in their 10th successive appearance. They finished joint-eighth in Group 2 of the 2014 World League.
Finland’s best performance to date was in 2007 when they took seventh place. They ended a 32-year absence from the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship in 2014 and returned in emphatic fashion. Thousands of fans travelled to Poland to cheer on their team as they enjoyed a spirited run to the second round before eventually finishing joint-ninth. In 2013 they finished eighth in the 16-team European Championship, repeating their feat of two years earlier to underline their consistency at a continental level.
The Finns' greatest success was arguably their fourth-place finish at the 2007 European Championship in Russia. They have been regulars in the final round of the European Championship, competing 15 times overall and finishing in the top 10 on six occasions. They have taken part in the World Championship seven times and they also won silver in the 2005 European League.
