Tuomas Sammelvuo, who took over Finland's men's team in 2013, led them to qualification for the 2014 World Championship for the first time in 32 years. The team finished equal ninth. Under Sammelvuo, Finland finished equal-15th and equal-eighth in Group 2 of the 2014 and 2015 editions of the World League. They also finished eighth at the 2013 European Championships.
