Canada finished third in 2015 FIVB Volleyball World League Group 2 Pool C after winning six of their 12 matches. In their last nine World League participations, their best result was a fifth place finish in 2013. Since 2012, Canada have participated consistently and are in their fifth-straight appearance at the tournament. Canada’s other achievements include a fourth-place finish at the Los Angeles 1984 Olympic Games, two bronze medals at the Pan American games in 1979 and 1999, and 18 top-three NORCECA Championship finishes. They have participated in three Olympic Games and a fourth-place finish at the Men’s World Olympic Qualification Tournament in Japan has qualified them for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, ending a 24-year absence from the competition.
Canada hosted the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto where they beat Puerto Rico for the bronze medal. Canada competed at the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Cup in 2015 for the first time in 12 years, finishing seventh. They last appeared in 2003, also finishing seventh. They finished joint-seventh at the 2014 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship and second behind the United States in the NORCECA Championship in 2013.
