Xuancheng ready for World League Pool H2

 

China will play hosts to Japan, Slovakia and Turkey at the World League Pool H2 tournament in Xuancheng

Xuancheng, China, June 29,2016 - With just two days to go before the start of the FIVB Volleyball World League Group 1 Preliminary Round tournament in Xuancheng, China, a joint meeting of the FIVB Control Committee and the Organising Committee was held to review preparations for the event.

The meeting was attended by FIVB Supervisor Yermek Syrlybayev from Kazakhstan, FIVB Referee Delegate Takashi Shimoyama from Japan, China Volleyball Association (CVA) Competition Director Cai Yi and Xuancheng Deputy Mayor Huang Min. The meeting was also attended by CVA officials, organising committee officials and major media reporters.

“It is a great honour to host such an important international event in our country. We are very pleased because Xuancheng is the first city that came forward with a bid to host the World League. The enthusiasm shown by the city has been huge and kind of contagious. We have high expectations for this event and we will devote every effort to undertake our due obligations.” said Deputy Major Huang Min.

The Deputy Major expressed her sincere gratitude to the China Volleyball Association, the Anhui Province Sports Bureau as well as the Jiangsu Province Sports Bureau. And she gave an account of the detailed preparations for the event, including the establishment of a high-level institutional framework led by Han Jun, the Xuancheng mayor and seven preparation meetings organised with the CVA and Anhui Province Sports Bureau. Over 200 volunteers were also recruited to better serve the event and eight working teams sent to Ningbo (China) to acquire practical experience at the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix event in that city. The Xuancheng Sports Center Gymnasium was built in October 2015 and can seat 5600 people. Funds were allocated to further perfect the facilities.

FIVB Supervisor Yermek Syrlybayev said: “I would like to thank Xuancheng City for providing this great location and I am glad to be here to join all of you. I can see all the OC officials have already been well-prepared and are very experienced, especially our VIS Supervisor Mr. Cai Yong, and Refereeing Supervisor Mr. Wang Ning. I hope we can have a cordial working relationship during this important event and the relevant principals can go all out to make sure FIVB Volleyball World League Xuancheng China 2016 will be crowned with complete success.”
