Turkey coach: I think this match is a signal my team is improving

Cairo, Egypt, June 24, 2016 – A good performance from Gokhan Gokgoz and Baturalp Burak Gungor helped guide Turkey to a 3-2 (20-25, 19-25, 25-19, 25-20, 15-10) win over Japan in their pool E2 match.

Masashi Nambu, Japan coach: "We played well in the first and the second game, but in the rest of the game  we suffer from bad  reception leading us to lose the match.

"I think the team might have been still feeling the effects of jet lag. We try to improve our performance for tomorrow."

Kunihiro Shimizu, Japan captain: "I am very sad for the defeat, I hope we can improve to win the next match."

Emanuelle Zanini, Turkey coach: "I am very happy to win this match. Two players only on this team played Japan before; my team hasn’t been a lot of experience. At the start of the match we have some problems, then I pushed some younger players from the youth team win the silver medal in European championship and they changed the intensity of the game.

"I think this match is a signal about how my team is improving and a big step to change our mentality, reduce our mistakes, and change the match"
