Turkey aim to get back on winning track

 

Xuancheng, China, June 30, 2016 - Turkey will try to get back on the winning track in FIVB Volleyball World League as they open the 2016 Group 2 tournament in Xuancheng on Friday with a match against Japan.

Head-to-Head
• Turkey and Japan have met once in the World League. Last weekend, Turkey won 3-2 in Cairo.
• This was Turkey's first ever World League match facing opposition from Asia.
• Since 2014, Japan have played European opposition 19 times in the World League, losing 15 of the 19 encounters.

Turkey
• Turkey lost their previous World League match, a 3-1 defeat against Egypt on 26 June.
• This ended an eight-match winning streak, Turkey's longest ever in the competition.
• Turkey have lost back-to-back matches in the World League only once. They dropped their first two outings in their debut season in the competition in 2014.

Japan
• Japan were swept in three World League matches last weekend after winning two from three in their opening weekend.
• Japan have not lost more than three World League matches in a row, since dropping 13 on the trot in 2013-2014.
• Japan's last five victories in the World League all came in straight sets.
