Portugal defeat Finland in five sets

Tampere, Finland, July 1, 2016 - Alexandre Ferreira scored 21 points as Portugal defeated Finland by 3-2 (22-25, 25-21, 19-25, 26-24, 15-12) in their FIVB Volleyball World League 2016 Pool I2 encounter on Friday.
 
Opposite spiker Olli-Pekka Ojansivu was the key player of the Finnish team scoring 28 points.
 
 
This was Portugal's only second win in World League 2016 and only second win in nine World League matches with Finland.
 
Finland had a tremendous start to the match thanks to two ace services and great blocking. Gradually the Portuguese reception started to pick up the balls better and their middle players hit powerful fast attacks. Finland dominated the end of the set and cruised to victory - 25-22.
 
Set 2 was a good fight from both teams. Portugal took control of the set after halfway. The Finns blocked well but struggled a bit with their attack play. Portugal took the set in a convincing fashion - 25-21.
 
Finland made a strong comeback in the third set. The home team controlled the whole set fighting well in block and defense and serving efficiently again. Finland closed the set at 25-19.
 
 
Portugal came back in set 4 and there were again slim margins in the game. The teams were leading turn by turn. Portugal took the set by a margin of only two points - 26-24.
 
In the tiebreak Finland started to dominate after 4-4, but Portugal came back at 11-11 and cruised past Finland to win the last set by 15-12.
