Netherlands seek bronze and revenge for earlier loss to Turkey

 

Matosinhos, Portugal, July 10, 2016 - Turkey shut out the Netherlands in an FIVB Volleyball World League 2016 Group 2 match - when they played in Izmir, but as the two teams meet again in Matosinhos on Sunday, they will both be shooting for the bronze.

Head-to-Head
• This will be the second meeting between these teams in the World League.
• The first encounter between these two took place earlier this season. Turkey won in straight sets before a home crowd in Izmir.

Turkey
• Turkey were beaten 3-0 by Canada on Saturday, their first ever straight sets defeat in the World League.
• Turkey have suffered back-to-back defeats in the World League only once, in 2014.
• Turkey's track record in the World League this season is eight wins and two defeats.

Netherlands
• Netherlands were beaten by hosts Portugal on Saturday, sending them into the bronzed final.
• The Dutch have now lost back-to-back matches in the World League. They have not dropped three straight since losing seven in a row in 2010.
• Netherlands have won six and lost four in the World League this season.
