Osaka, Japan, June 19, 2016 - Japan's Masashi Kuriyama scored 14 points contributing to his team's comfortable victory over Korea 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 26-24) in the Pool B2 FIVB World League encounter.

Japan's Masashi Kuriyama scored 14 points as his team swept aside Korea 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 26-24) in the Pool B2 FIVB World League encounter.

The next best scorer for Japan was Kunihiro Shimizu with 10 points, while Korea's Hak-Min Kim scored a team-high 13.

Japan finished first in the tournament while Korea recorded no win and went to the bottom. Japan have won the four most recent meetings with Korea in all competitions, which includes two meetings at the 2015 World League and one meeting at the 2015 Asian Championship.





Set one saw both teams trading points early until Japan have established a two-point advantage at the second technical timeout. They managed to build it up to eventually take the set at 25-21.

In set two Japan continued their good performance going 5-2 in front, but Korea managed to tie the score at 7-7. In the mid-set Japan regrouped again and close it out at 25-17.

Japan raced off to a 16-11 lead in the third set, but Korea bounced back to tie the score 22-22. Finally in a very tight affair it was Japan who succeed 26-24.
