Japan and Korea to fight for Asian bragging rights

 

Osaka, Japan, June 18, 2016 – It will be an all-Asian clash in Osaka when hosts Japan meet Korea in the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix.

Head-to-Head
· Japan have won the three most recent meetings with Korea in all competitions, which includes two meetings at the 2015 World League and one meeting at the 2015 Asian Championship.
· In the World League, Korea have won eight of the previous 14 meetings, but Japan have won the two most recent meetings both in straight sets.
· Japan have won the last six matches against Korea in Japan, in all official matches.

Japan
· Japan have won and lost one match in the 2016 World League.
· They won one of their first four matches in 2015, before they claimed their second win in the 3-1 victory against Korea.
· Japan have lost their last three five-setters in the World League.
· Kunihiro Shimizu is Japan's top scorer with 38 points, one more point than Korea's Hak-Min Kim.

Korea
· Korea seek their first win in the 2016 World League after two defeats.
· In 2015 they lost their first three World League matches before winning against Czech Republic.
· The other win for Korea in the 2015 World League was against Japan (3-0).
· Sun-Soo Han has an average of 10.8 setups per set.
· Seong-Hyeon Jeong has an effiency of 50% in receiving.
