Important win for Slovakia against Japan

Matej Patak (12) from Slovakia spikes against Japan's triple block

Xuancheng, China, July 2, 2016 - The FIVB Volleyball World League Pool H2 match between Slovakia and Japan resulted in a four-set victory for Slovakia - 3-1 (25-18, 25-21, 24-26, 25-22).

Miroslav Palgut, coach of Slovakia: "Today’s match was a rather important match. Japan have good defense and block. We fell behind in the third set. However, we could battle back and finally won the match."

Nambu Masashi, coach of Japan: "Congratulations to Slovakia for playing so well. The height and the defense of Slovakia made us get into trouble and led to our failure. We ignored the powerful serve by Slovakia, which was the main reason of our loss."

Matej Patak, captain of Slovakia: "I am glad to win this important match. Although China defeated us yesterday, we were able to adjust our status and be up to our best level in skill at such a short time. We gained three points today and we will prepare better for tomorrow."

Kunihiro Shimizu, captain of Japan: "It is a pity that we have lost the match against Slovakia. We have good block, but our back row defense is not so good."
