Form favours both Turkey and the Netherlands

 

Izmir, Turkey, June 19, 2016 – Both Turkey and the Netherlands come into their match with the form book looking strong.

Head-to-Head
· Turkey have won three of the four meetings against Netherlands in all official matches.
· Turkey's three victories were all European Championship matches (1958, 1963 and 1967), while Netherlands' sole victory was at the 1966 World Championships.
· Only one of the four matches ended in straight sets, the victory by Netherlands at the 1966 World Championship.
· Only one of these four meetings was in Turkey. At the 1967 European Championship, Turkey won 3-2, with the final set ending in 16-14.

Turkey
· Turkey are on a five-match winning streak at the World League and could set a record winning streak in the competition, as they won five in a row in 2014. 
· They started their 2016 campaign with victories over Portugal (3-1) and Slovakia (3-0). 
· Turkey could start a World League campaign with three wins for the first time. 
· Serhat Coskun has scored a team-high 29 points in Turkey's first two matches. 

Netherlands
· After winning their first two matches in the 2016 World League, Netherlands can repeat their start of 2015 when they won their first three.
· Including the last match of 2015, Netherlands can win four World League matches in a row for the first time since 2014.
· Netherlands had 14 successful blocks in their 3-0 win against Portugal.
· Jasper Diefenbach has scored eight points from blocks, 1.13 per set.
· Maarten van Garderen leads Netherlands in scoring with 23 points.
