Finland with distant shot at Group 2 finals

 

Tampere, Finland, July 3, 2016 - Finland still have a shot at qualifying for the FIVB Volleyball World League 2016 Group 2 finals, but it goes through a mandatory victory on Sunday in Tampere and their opponents Canada have not lost a single match in the competition so far.

Head-to-Head
• Finland have lost six of their last seven World League encounters with Canada. The only Finnish victory in this string was the 3-0 in Tampere on 27 June 2014.
• Finland had won five of their first seven against Canada, before winning only one of their next seven.
• Canada have won four of their seven World League away matches in Finland and four of their five in Tampere.

Finland
• Finland won 3-1 against Cuba on Saturday. They have now won five of their last seven World League matches.
• Finland can record their sixth victory of this World League season. They only won more matches in the competition in 2007 (7) and 2009 (7).
• Olli-Pekka Ojansivu was top scorer in Finalnd's 3-1 victory over Cuba, with 18 points.

Canada
• Canada beat Portugal 3-0 on Saturday to record their 50th victory in World League history.
• Canada have a perfect record in the World League this season (W8). Five of their eight victories this term came in straight sets.
• Canada have now won their last eight World League matches, their longest winning streak ever in the competition.
• Canada's last defeat in the World League came on 27 June 2015, when they lost 3-2 against Argentina.
• John Gordon Perrin scored a match-high 14 points for Canada in their 3-0 win over Portugal.
