Elkotb leads Egypt to a comfortable victory over China

Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic, June 19, 2016 - Match top scorer Ahmed Elkotb led Egypt to victory over China 3-0 (25-20, 28-26, 26-24) with his 23 points scored in Pool C2 FIVB World League encounter.

Egypt won the second from five encounters between the two sides. The previous victory happened in 2008 in straight sets.




Egypt took an early lead in set one and managed to keep advantage to evetually close it out 25-20.

Second set started in dramatically different way, while China took the lead 7-2. After intervention of coach Shehata during time out, the Africans found again concentration and jumped back into the match to tie it 15-15. Playing without their best player Dai Qingyao, Chineese team found the way to compete with their opponents, but more patience on Egyptian side was decisive to win the set 28-16.

Young Chinese team opened the thirid set with a small advantage 10-8. They were on a good way to win leading 19-14, but Egypt refused to play more than three sets and presented more determination plus good blocking which resulted in a 26-24 victory.
