Seoul, Korea, June 30, 2016 - Two teams with the same win-loss record of 4-2 in FIVB Volleyball World League 2016 Group 2 and both still in contention for a spot in the finals, Egypt and the Netherlands, will face each other on opening day at the tournament in Korea.
Head-to-Head
• This will be the first encounter between Egypt and Netherlands in the World League.
• They previously met at a major tournament in 2002 when Netherlands won in straight sets at the world championship.
• The only other meeting at world level after 1999 came at the Olympic Games in 2000 when Netherlands won 3-1.
Egypt
• Egypt have won their last two matches in the 2016 World League .
• Between 2006 and 2010, Egypt won only six of their 48 matches. Since their return to the World League in 2015, Egypt have won 11 of their 13 matches.
• Ahmed Elkotb has scored a total of 125 points, including a team-high 107 spikes.
Netherlands
• Netherlands have won their last two World League matches, against Slovakia (3-1) and Cuba (3-2).
• They started the tournament with two victories after also winning their last match in 2015 World League before Turkey ended their three match winning streak.
• Maarten van Garderen leads the Netherlands with most points (83) including a team-high 67 spikes.
