Czechs and Egyptians to play for the fans

 

Seoul, Korea, July 2, 2016 - Both Czechia and Egypt are now out of contention for the FIVB Volleyball World League 2016 Group 2 finals, so they will play against each other on Sunday for the Korean fans in Seoul.

Head-to-Head
• The only World League meeting between these teams came earlier this tournament when Egypt won in five sets.
• Egypt lost to Netherlands on Friday and have not lost back-to-back World League matches facing European opposition since 2010.

Czech Republic
• Czech Republic's 3-1 defeat against Netherlands means they have now lost back-to-back World League matches for the first time since last year, when they dropped five in a row at one point.
• The Czechs started their 2016 World League campaign by winning four of their first six matches.
• Against Netherlands, four Czech players reached double figures in points, led by Donovan Dzavoronok on 15.

Egypt
• Egypt's record this season dropped to four wins and three defeats following their 3-2 defeat against Korea on Saturday.
• Egypt have not lost back-to-back World League matches since 2010 (ten in a row).
• Against Korea, Ahmed Elkotb led his team with 22 points (19 off spikes).
