China start at home against Slovakia

 

Xuancheng, China, June 30, 2016 - China will open their home FIVB Volleyball World League 2016 Group 2 tournament in Xuancheng with a match against Slovakia. Both teams have a 2-4 win-loss record so far and are in a close race with each other in the standings.

Head-to-Head
• China and Slovakia have met on six occasions in the World League with China winning four and Slovakia winning two.
• Slovakia's two World League victories against China both came on home court, in Bratislava in 2014 and 2015.
• Only one of their previous six meetings in the competition was decided in straight sets as Slovakia won 3-0 in 2014.

China
• China recovered from losing all three of their World League matches in the opening weekend this season by winning two from three in the second weekend.
• The last time China swept a weekend was in June of last year, when they beat Slovakia, Mexico and Greece.
• This was also the last time that China won successive World League matches.

Slovakia
• Slovakia lost two of their three matches in each of the first two weekends of the 2016 World League.
• Slovakia will attempt to avoid losing three World League matches on the trot for the first time since 2015.
• Slovakia have claimed two victories from a World League weekend once. In June 2014, they defeated Puerto Rico and China before losing to Spain.
