Canada seek to continue winning ways

 

Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic, June 19, 2016 – Canada will be looking to carry momentum into their final match of the weekend against hosts the Czech Republic.

Head-to-Head
· This is the fourth meeting between these sides. Canada have lost all three previous meetings, all against Czechoslovakia.
· The first meeting was at the 1976 Olympic Games (3-0), followed by the 1982 World Championship (3-0) and the 1990 World Championship (1990).
· It is Czech Republic's first meeting in the World League against a NORCECA nation.
· Czech Republic have faced NORCECA for the last time at the 2012 Olympic Qualification Tournament, when they lost 3-1 against Cuba.

Czech Republic
· Czech Republic won their last World League match against China (3-1) after losing their 2016 opener against Egypt in five sets.
· Czech Republic have now won 22 World League matches, one more than they have lost in the competition.
· Michal Finger scored 18 points against China, as much as he scored against Egypt. With 36 points he is Czech Republic's leading scorer in the tournament. 

Canada
· Canada won their first two matches in the 2016 World League campaign in straight sets.
· Canada started their 2015 World League also with two straight-set wins. These wins were followed by a 3-1 victory over Bulgaria.
· That was also the last time Canada won three in a row in the World League. 
· Canada can win three consecutive World League matches by a 3-0 score for the first time.
· Steven Marshall is Canada's leading scorer. He scored a total of 24 points, 12 in each match.
