All-Asian Classic coming up in Xuancheng

 

Xuancheng, China, July 2, 2016 - With both China and Japan already out of contention for the FIVB Volleyball World League 2016 Group 2 finals, they face each other in Xuancheng on Sunday to please the fans with another edition of the old-time all-Asian Classic.

Head-to-Head
• China have won five of their last seven World League encounters with Japan. 
• Before this sequence, China had amassed only four wins from their first 19 World League matches against Japan.
• The last time China defeated Japan in a World League match in China was 2008, when the home side triumphed 3-2 in Hangzhou.

China
• China's 3-0 defeat against Turkey followed back-to-back victories in the World League.
• China's record dropped to three wins and five defeats in the World League this season.
• Four of China's five defeats this season came in straight sets.

Japan
• Japan's losing streak reached five matches following Saturday's defeat against Slovakia.
• For Japan, this is the longest losing run in the completion since 13 straight defeats from 2013 to 2014.
• Kunihoro Shimizu chipped in 21 points (19 off spikes) against Slovakia, while none of his teammates topped 10.
