Andre Reis Lopes captain of Portugal exchanges a pin with Hui-Chae Song the captain of Korea
Saskatoon, Canada, June 25, 2016 - Portugal beat Korea in straight sets (25-23, 28-26, 25-23). Coach Fernando Santos stressed that service and blocking were the key factor for success.
Francisco Santos, coach of Portugal: Today we made a lot less errors than yesterday and we had speed going the whole time. Our service and our blocking were also very good today.
Namsung Kim, coach of Korea: Especially today, we didn’t like at all the referee decisions. A lot of players having time with injuries and time difference. That’s the biggest reason why we lose the game today.
Alexandre Ferreira, captain of Portugal: Today’s game went much better. We changed some of the team and this can be the seven players we start in the final four. We had less mistakes than yesterday. I think we have to focus more on our parts and not any others because we work and study the other teams but lose concentration on our parts and make mistakes. We are very tired, we do fitness in the morning because we are working towards the final. I think we were much better and tomorrow we can be better than today.
Sun-Soo Han, captain of Korea: Our team made so many mistakes today. If we keep to our strategy and we do our best job, we can beat China tomorrow for sure.
