Post-match press conference after China vs. Turkey game

Xuancheng, China, July 2, 2016 - Turkey mastered a 3-0 (27-25, 25-23, 25-18) shutout of China on Saturday at the FIVB Volleyball World League 2016 Group 2 tournament in Xuancheng.

Emanuele Zanini, coach of Turkey: “It was a nice match. Today we played a lot of interesting points and long rallies, and I think the spectators have really enjoyed this game. I want to express my sincere gratitude to all my players and staff because we started our World League preparation two months ago and we set our goal to go to the finals in Portugal at that time. I am satisfied with the terrific results as we fought towards our current place in Group 2.”

Xie Guochen, coach of China: “We did not play our best level today although our players tried their best. We failed to catch the good opportunity during those crucial moments. Turkey has well-balanced players and fast reception, which poses a threat to our block.”

Ulas Kiyak, captain of Turkey: “I would like to congratulate China for playing so hard. Today we did a good job, just like yesterday. The match against China was unbelievable. We are so close to our goal now and we must fight against Slovakia tomorrow with might and mind.”

Jiao Shuai, captain of China: “Congratulations to Turkey for playing so well. In the first two sets, we did have some golden opportunities to take Turkey down, but we did not seize those crucial points and we lost the match.”
