School tournament opens Group 3 Finals

Frankfurt/Main, Germany, June 30, 2016 - From July 1 to 2, Germany, Greece, Slovenia and Chinese Taipei will vie for the FIVB Volleyball World League Group 3 crown in Frankfurt/Main. But this is far from the only highlight of an incredible tournament with a public training from the home heroes followed by a huge school tournament acting as the official opener for the event.

The German Volleyball Federation and the Hessian Volleyball Federation, in collaboration with the FIVB, organised the tournament at the Elly-Heuss-School in Wiesbaden, with 170 children and 45 teams competing.

FIVB Control Committee President Mushtaque Mohammed was in attendance for the start, with German coach Vital Heynen and outside hitters David Sossenheimer and Moritz Reichert handing out the awards.

It was also an opportunity to share knowledge, with FIVB Instructure John Kessel saying that everyone had invested in the development of the game.

“They are all here to give back to the sport,” he continued. “You can see it in their eyes how much they loved the game and how much they want to make it better.”
