Piazza names 19 in Qatar squad

 

Qatar are making their World League debut this year

Doha, Qatar, May 24, 2016 – Qatar coach Roberto Piazza has named an enlarged squad of 19 to begin preparations for his team’s FIVB Volleyball World League debut. 

Piazza’s team will make their World League bow against host nation Slovenia in its capital Ljubljana on June 17. They then face Venezuela and Tunisia. In the second weekend they travel to Thessaloniki in Greece to face Slovenia again, Greece and Puerto Rico. 

The squad have already begun their preparation in Doha and they will travel to Slovenia on June 4 to begin the preparations for their World League debut. The Group 3 Final Four takes place over July 1-3 in Frankfurt, Germany. 

Piazza signed a one-year contract with the Gulf state in March this year and he brought two decades of coaching experience with him, most recently a stint as assistant coach to the German team that won gold at the Azerbaijan 2015, European Games. 

He is also coach to Greek side Olimpiacos and is set to finish his duties there in May.
