Cairo, Egypt, June 25, 2016 - Turkey's best scorer Gungor Burak led his team to a victory over Finland in a five-set thriller 3-2 (19-25, 21-25, 25-21, 25-22, 15-11).
Gungor scored 20 points, but Finland's Olli-Pekka Ojansivu achieved match-high 22 points. Turkey are still unbeaten in the 2016 World League, winning all five matches. The only other team in Group 2 without defeat is Canada.
Finland started the first set very strongly, they led 8-2 at the first technical timeout. Ojansivu's spikes put his team to the second technical timeout 16-11. Finland took the set quickly 25-19.
The second set saw a good fight from both teams and Turkey kept leading at the first technical timeout 8-6 and at the second technical timeout 16-14. Finland woke up and their best scorer Ojansivu did his best in attack and led finland to a victory 25-21.
In the third set Finland started very strongly and reached the first technical timeout 8-6 in front and kept their advantage at the second technical time out 16-14. The turning point in the match came when Gungor served to tie the score 21-21 and led his team with the aces to win the set 25-22.
The fourth set had the same plot as the third one. Finland enjoyed the advantage through, but Turkey managed to tie the score 21-21. Gungor did the same job as his aces contributed to Turkey's victory 25-22.
In the tiebreaker Turkey dominated the proceedings on the court and Finland lost the concentration. Turkey won the set 15-11 and the match 3-2.
