Athanasios Protopsaltis started playing volleyball in year 2006 in the club Ammochostos Cyprus. In season 2006-2007 he conquered with his team the Youth Men Championship and both Junior Men Championship and Cup. He conquered also with Ammochostos Double Senior Men Championship and Cup in 2008-2009, 2009-2010 and 2010-2011.

In the next season 2011-2012 he is transferred to club Panathinaikos where he remains for 2 years. In 2013 he becomes a player of club AO KIFISSIA and conquers 2nd place in Greek Cup and 3rd place in the Greek Championship. In 2014 he returns to Panathinaikos and ranks 4th in the Greek Championship.

Next year 2015 he decides to move to France and enrolls in club Narbonne and the following year he goes further north as an athlete of the German Friedrichshafen.

He was first called in the Youth Men National team in 2010 and conquered then the 1st position in the Balkan Championship in Bulgaria, while next year the team ranks 6th in the European Championship and 7th in the World Championship of Argentina in 2012.

In 2013 as a member of Junior Men National team he conquers 2nd position in the Balkan Championship and 9th in the European Championship. In 2013 he is called in the National Men team and ranks 2nd the European League.

He was declared as Best Greek wing spiker, very efficient spiker, best server and best setter.
