Seppanen, Kaurto combine as Finland defeat Egypt

 

Finland celebrate the victory over Egypt

Cairo, Egypt, June 24, 2016 - Finland defeated Egypt in straight sets (25-22, 25-17, 25022) as Niklas Seppänen and Markus Kaurto scored joint team-high 11 points in the Pool E2 FIVB World League encounter.

Egypt's best scorer Ahmed Elkotb won match-high 14 points. Finland broke Egypt's four-game winning streak at home in the World League, claiming the fifth victory in their last six matches in the competition.





Set one was a tight dispute for a long spell until Finland took control over the game and built a narrow advantage 20-17. This proved to be enough to win the set 25-22.





In set two Finland have dominated the proceedings on the court and raced out to a 16-8 lead. They easily converted it into a 25-17 win.

In set three Egypt were trying to bounce back and went 8-6 in front, but Finland didn't want a longer match and established a narrow 16-14 advantage at the second technical timeout. Egypt didn't find any solution allowing the Fins to take the set 25-22.
