Bratislava, Slovakia, June 24, 2016 - Czech Republic beat Netherlands 3-2 (25-21, 19-25, 25-23, 20-25, 15-11) in a five-setter to open the week's Group 2 programme in FIVB Volleyball World League.
Gido Vermeulen, coach of Netherlands: We lost our opposite after second point already. He ripped his calf and we need to see what happened. That's why we lost first set. Then we came back, the match was very close and we played good fightning volleyball in fourth set. Tie-break is always a lottery and this time we lost the lottery.
Miguel Angel Falasca, coach of Czech Republic: The key was that we never give up and we fought all the time. We started very good, we had very good serve and we used this. I think when we played little more calm and controlled more our service, we could have won 3-1. But we have many young players with little international experience and we need to play a lot of matches to solve this kind of situation. My team was motivated, they fight all the time and I am happy for the victory.
Jasper Diefenbach, captain of Netherlands: Czech Republic play very good game. They served well and we had no answer to that for three sets. We have to watch the video to see what we have to improve. The tournament is still long, we have next match tomorrow and we will focus on that. We keep positive.
Jakub Janouch, Czech Republic: There were plenty of errors on both sides, but the key for our victory was our good service in the tie-break. It was difficult match in terms of physics, but I am sure that we will recover quicker after victory.
