USA hope to keep Bulgaria winless on Dallas opening day

 

Dallas, USA, June 30, 2016 - Bulgaria are still looking for their first FIVB Volleyball World League 2016 Group 1 victory, but the team of USA, hosting the tournament in Dallas a boasting a 5-1 win-loss record in the competition so far, are a tough opponent to do that against.

Head-to-Head
• This will be the 16th match between United States and Bulgaria in the World League. Bulgaria have the upper hand with nine wins.
• USA have won six matches against Bulgaria, with five of these six wins coming in their last seven encounters.
• The last time these two teams faced each other in any major competition was in the 2014 World League, when USA won the first three meetings before Bulgaria won the last encounter 3-2.
 
United States
• USA have won five of their six matches this World League season.
• They can win four matches in a row in the World League for the first time since a run of nine wins in 2014-2015.
• USA can claim two successive 3-0 wins for the first time since 2014 (Russia, Serbia).
• Matthew Anderson has scored 95 points, only Bulgaria's Tsvetan Sokolov has scored more points in the 2016 World League (108).

Bulgaria
• Bulgaria have lost their last seven World League matches, including all six in 2016.
• They lost their first seven matches in the 2014 World League, with three of these defeats coming against USA. 
• Tsvetan Sokolov is the top scorer in Group 1 with 108 points (96 spikes). He is the only player to have scored more than 100 points.
• Viktor Yosifov has added 14 stuff blocks.
