Tetyukhin: We showed who we really are

"It was important for us to show our team spirit" - said Sborna's captain Sergey Tetyukhin, commenting on today's win against Poland.

Łódź, Poland, June 25, 2016 – Russia won at the Atlas Arena in Łódź in four sets against Poland 3-1 (25-17, 25-20, 20-25, 25-15). During the press conference both coaches underlined that they see room for improvement.

Vladimir Alekno, coach of Russia: Today we won thanks to our hard work and we proved that it works. Thanks to our team spirit we were good in stand up after yesterday loss. We are still very far from the level which we would like to achieve in this season, but we are still working on it.

Stephane Antiga, coach of Poland: Russia played very well. However, even if we lost, I see some positive aspects in our game - Kurek played well in attack and block, same with Bednorz, Zatorski defended very well but all players were involved in the game. We made many mistakes in attack with 20% out or faulty balls and it’s far too much. We stopped Muserskiy, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough. Russia dominated physically, their play on high ball was very impressive but even if they are very tall we should play better and I hope that tomorrow we will show better volleyball.

Sergey Tetyukhin, captain of Russia:
It was a pleasure for me to play here, surrounded by fans who truly love their team and it doesn’t even matter that they supported our opponent, because they cheered for volleyball. After yesterday’s loss it was important for us to show our team spirit and to show who we truly are.

Michal Kubiak, captain of Poland:
Congratulations to team Russia who won and played good match. We couldn’t push them away from the net with our serves. They were very good in reception and Grankin could set ball how he wished. This match is history now and we are focused on upcoming challenge.
