Serbia hope to continue rolling in Belgrade

 

Belgrade, Serbia, June 25, 2016 - Serbia are on a roll in FIVB Volleyball World League 2016 Group 1 with five victories in five matches so far. On Saturday, they face Iran in Belgrade and will do their best to finish the weekend in an impeccable manner.

Head-to-Head
• Iran and Serbia have met twice at the World League with each team winning once. 
• On 21 June 2013, Serbia beat Iran 3-2. Two days later, on 23 June, Iran beat Serbia 3-2.
• The last major championship where these teams met was the 2014 World Championship. Iran beat Serbia 3-1 in the Second Round.

Iran
• Iran have lost three and won two matches in the 2016 World League. Two of these defeats were against Brazil.
• They have now lost four and won eight of their matches at major tournaments in 2016.
• Mohammadjavad Manavinezhad has 60 points and his teammates Shahram Mahmoudi (55) and Seyed Mohammad Mousavi Eraghi (50) are not far behind him.
• Seyed Mohammad Mousavi Eraghi has 13 stuff blocks.
• Mahdi Marandi has 52 excellents as receiver.

Serbia
• Serbia can make it six wins in six matches in the 2016 World League. In 2015 they lost four of their first six matches.
• In all major tournaments Serbia have now won six matches in a row, their longest winning streak since 10 in 2012.
• Their next defeat will be their 50th loss in the World League. They have won 78 matches.
• Srecko Lisinac has scored 60 points, including 10 stuff blocks and nine aces.
