Serbia had to work hard to beat Bulgaria

Marko Ivovic talks with journalists in the mixed zone in Belgrade

Belgrade, Serbia, June 25, 2016 - Serbia won their fifth straight match in the 2016 World League. In front of their home crowd in Belgrade, they outplayed Bulgaria for a 3-1 (25-18, 21-25, 25-19, 25-23) with an 18-point contribution from Uros Kovacevic.

Nikola Grbic, coach of Serbia: "It is happening to all teams after such a difficult match like the one we had last night. I knew that we would have problems tonight. With Bulgaria still having a chance to qualify, a win against us, still unbeaten, would be a great boost for them. Now we are looking at two matches with Iran and we have to focus and prepare as much as we can. I believe in these guys."

Plamen Konstantinov, coach of Bulgaria: "We already lost a couple of narrow sets and it is a big problem for us. Maybe we need more experience. The other teams are clearly more focused in these moments. We are not quite still there. I hope we can learn to win close matches in the near future. It is normal for young players and I am confident that we will be OK."

Marko Ivovic, captain of Serbia: "Bulgaria did not have much to lose in this match and we knew that they would push hard tonight. This is a great victory for us. I am proud of these guys. Iran is still a mystery for us, with couple of new players, but I am expecting good result."

Viktor Yosifov, captain of Bulgaria: "We were there tonight, we were fighting, we tried to win at least a point, but unfortunately we did not make it. As for Brazil, we do not need to use many words - everybody knows who they are. It will be very difficult, but I can promise that we will do our best."
