Poland with last rehearsal before World League finals

 

Nancy, France, July 3, 2016 - Poland can use their last match of the pool phase in FIVB Volleyball World League 2016 Group 1 as preparation for the finals they are hosting in Krakow. They will meet Belgium in France on Sunday.

Head-to-Head
• Belgium will face Poland for the first time in the World League.
• The last three matches at major tournaments have resulted in a win for Belgium (2007 European Championship) and two wins for Poland (2015 European Championship and 2016 European Olympic Qualification tournament).
• Both these Polish wins came in straight sets.

Belgium
• Belgium lost 3-2 against Brazil on Saturday. They have now lost four of their last five World League matches, including their last two.
• Belgium could lose three Intercontinental Round matches in a row for the first time in World League history.
• Eight of Belgium's 15 defeats in the World league came in five sets (53%).
• Gert Van Walle scored a match-high 26 points for Belgium in their five-set defeat against Brazil (23 spikes).

Poland
• Poland lost 3-1 against hosts France on Saturday, suffering their 111th defeat in World League history.
• Poland have now lost six of their last seven matches in the World League. In this span, they only avoided defeat against Argentina on 24 June (3-1 win).
• Poland have lost their last four World League matches and could lose five in a row for the first time in the competition since June 2000.
• Poland have lost five of their six World League matches in France, including their last four.
• Michal Kubiak scored a team-high 19 points in Poland's 3-1 defeat against France.
