Lausanne, Switzerland, May 2, 2016 – Team captain Saeid Marouf was one of 21 players selected by Iran head coach Raul Lozano for the 2016 edition of the FIVB Volleyball World League, alongside 2015 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Cup 2nd Best Middle Blocker Seyed Mohammad Mousavi.
Iran will compete in Group 1 in the Preliminary Round of the 27th edition of the World League, which runs from June 16 to July 3.
Iran is one of 12 teams in Group 1. The others are: France, Italy, Australia, Russia, USA, Brazil, Argentina, Serbia, Bulgaria, Belgium, and Poland. They are to compete in three different pools over three weeks.
Raul Lozano, the new head coach of Iran, has picked 21 players for his initial squad. They are: Saeid Marouf, Mahdi Mahdavi, Mohammad Taher Vadi, Amir Ghafour, Shahram Mahmoudi, Amin ALavi, Farhad Zarif, Mahdi Marandi, Sayyed Mohammad Mousavi, Adel Gholami, Armin Tashakori, Mostafa Sharifat, Saman Faezi, Mohammad Fallah, Milad Ebadipour, Farhad Ghaemi, Mohammad Javad Manavinejad, Alireza Mobasheri, Hamzeh Zarrini, Mojtaba Morzajanpour and Rahman Davoudi.
The World League Finals will take place in Krakow, Poland from July 13 to 17.
