Giants USA and Russia head to head with different mindsets

 

Dallas, USA, July 3, 2016 - Giants USA and Russia will finish their FIVB Volleyball World League 2016 Group 1 pool stage campaign with a clash against each other in Dallas.  The hosts have already secured their qualification for the finals in Krakow, while Russia are now out of contention and this will be their last World League game of the season.

Head-to-Head
• United States and Russia (incl. CIS and Soviet Union) have met 28 times before at the World League, with Russia winning on 15 occasions and United States winning 13 times.
• United States have won seven of their last eight World League matches against Russia and are unbeaten in their last four since a 3-0 defeat on 28 June 2014.
• These nations last clashed at the 2015 World Cup, when United States beat Russia in straight sets.

United States
• United States have won their last five World League matches. This is their best streak since winning nine in row in 2014-2015.
• United have won seven of their eight matches this World League and have already qualified for the final round. 
• Matthew Anderson scored a team-high 110 points in the 2016 World League.

Russia
• Russia have won their last two World League matches in straight sets. 
• Russia can win all three matches in a single World League weekend for the first time in 2016.
• They can win three in a row for the first time since 2014, when they had two runs of four wins in a row. One of these runs included four straight sets victories.
• Dmitriy Muserskiy is Russia's top scorer with 78 points in the 2016 World League.
