France to go for revenge against Belgium on home ground

 

Nancy, France, June 30, 2016 - France will try to take advantage of the home court at the FIVB Volleyball World League 2016 Group 1 tournament in Nancy to take revenge for that 2-3 loss to Belgium on June 19, as the two teams meet again this Friday.

Head-to-Head
• Belgium beat France 3-2 in the 2016 World League on 19 June. Their only other meeting at the World League came in the Group 2 semifinals in 2014, which France won in straight sets. 
• Belgium can beat France two times in a row for the first time in a major competition. 

France
• France have lost two matches in the 2016 World League, already one more than in their gold medal winning campaign 2015.
• One of these defeats was against Belgium on 19 June.
• France's last five wins in the World League have been straight-set victories. Their last two defeats came after five sets.
• Antonin Rouzier has scored 71 points in the 2016 World League.
• Bejamin Toniutti has the highest average as setter in Group 1: 10.8 per set.
• Jenia Grebennikov has registered 81 digs, most of all players.

Belgium
• Belgium have won three matches and lost three in the 2016 World League.
• Belgium can win back-to-back competitive matches for the first time this year.
• Gert Van Walle has scored 90 points in the 2016 World League, including 76 spikes.
• Simon Van De Voorde has recorded 18 stuff blocks, most all players in Group 1.
