France could get closer to Poland if they beat Poland in France

 

Nancy, France, July 2, 2016 - France could make a solid step towards the FIVB Volleyball World League 2016 Group 1 finals in Poland if they beat Poland in France.

Head-to-Head
• These nations have clashed 11 times before in the World League. France have won seven times. Poland are on four victories.
• France have won six of the last seven World League meetings with Poland and are unbeaten in their last four since a 3-2 defeat on 11 July 2007.
• Seven of their 11 encounters needed a deciding set, with four of their last five matches decided in the fifth set.

France
• France beat Belgium in straight sets on Friday, claiming back-to-back wins for the second time at the 2016 World League. France had also won their first two matches of the season.
• France won the 2015 World League, losing only one match in the process (3-1 to United States in the group stages). They have already conceded two losses in 2016 (versus Belgium and Argentina).
• All of France's last nine World League matches have either ended in a 3-0 or 3-2 scoreline. Their last match with a 3-1 result was the aforementioned 3-1 loss to United States in 2015.
• Earvin Ngapeth finished as France's top scorer in their win over Belgium, scoring 15 points.

Poland
• This will be Poland's 250th World League match: W139-L110.
• They can lose four consecutive World League matches for the first time since 2013.
• The can lose three consecutive matches in straight sets for the first time since losing four successive matches by a 3-0 scoreline in their 1998 debut season..
• Michal Kubiak finished as Poland's top scorer in their loss against Brazil with nine points.
