Familiar foes set to face off in Russia

 

Kaliningrad, Russia, June 18, 2016 – Bulgaria will be on the hunt for a first competitive win over Serbia since 2012 when the two teams meet in Kaliningrad on Saturday.

Head-to-Head
· These countries have met 11 times at the World League with Serbia (including Serbia and Montenegro) winning seven and Bulgaria four.
· Bulgaria last victory over Serbia in all competitions was at the European Olympic Qualification Tournament in 2012 (3-0).
· Bulgaria's last World League victory over Serbia (then Serbia and Montenegro) came in 2006 in straight sets.

Bulgaria
· Bulgaria lost their opening match at the 2016 World League 3-1 against Poland.
· Bulgaria can lose their first two matches of a single World League campaign for the sixth time and for the first time since 2014. 
· Bulgaria's most capped player Tsvetan Sokolov scored most points in their first match against Poland, 15 including a team high 13 spikes.

Serbia
· Serbia won their first match of the 2016 World League against Russia in straight sets.
· Serbia won their first two World League matches in 2001 (as Serbia and Montenegro), 2010, 2013 and 2014 but never without conceding a single set. 
· Srecko Lisinac scored a team-high 14 points against Russia.
