Brazil to look for rebound with second win against Iran

 

Belgrade, Serbia, June 24, 2016 - On Thursday, Brazil recorded their first defeat in FIVB Volleyball World League 2016 and on Friday they will surely be looking for rebound with a second victory over Iran.

Head-to-Head
• Brazil and Iran are in perfect balance at the World League: three wins each.
• Iran is the only team to not have a losing record against Brazil in the competition. Italy and Cuba come closes to this feat, as they both have a 52% losing percentage against Brazil.
• This will be their second World League meeting in 2016. On 16 June Brazil won 3-0. 
• Brazil can now beat Iran in consecutive World League meetings for the first time in team history.
• In their first meetings this season Brazil's Lucas Saatkamp claimed top scorer honours, winning 17 points.
• Shahram Mahmoudi was top scorer for Iran, with 12 points.  

Brazil 
• Brazil won their first three matches in the 2016 World League but then they were defeated in their last against Serbia (3-1). 
• Since the start of the 2015 World League, Brazil lost only once two World League matches in a row when both Italy and France proved too strong.  
• Ricardo Lucarelli Santos De Souza scored a team-high 70 points. He became top scorer in two matches (against Argentina and Serbia) and became the second top scorer of the team against Iran and United States. 

Iran
• Iran won their last two World League matches against Bulgaria (3-1) and Argentina (3-2) after starting this campaign with two defeats against United States (3-1) and Brazil (3-0). 
• Iran can win three in a row for the first time in the 2016 World League. They had a streak of at least three consecutive wins in each of their World League campaigns.
• Mohammadjavad Manavinezhad is Iran's top scorer in the 2016 World League. He scored a total 41 points including a match-high 21 against Bulgaria.
