Australia face Belgium in attempt at first victory

Rome, Italy, June 26, 2016 - Australia have not won any matches in FIVB Volleyball World League 2016 yet. Their next chance is Sunday's match with Belgium at the Group 1 tournament in Italy.

Head-to-Head
• Australia have lost all their five World League matches against Belgium. Australia have only managed to win a total of two sets in these five matches combined.
• Against no other team have Australia played so many World League matches without ever winning (four losses in four matches against Russia, Poland and Brazil).
• Five wins against a specific opponent are a record for Belgium, as they have also won five World League matches against Finland.
• This will be their second meeting this World League season. On 17 June, Belgium won 3-0, even though Australia's Paul Carroll scored a match-high 22 points in Sydney.

Australia
• Australia are on a five-match losing streak at the World League.
• Their last win was the 3-2 victory over Serbia on 5 July in last year's Intercontinental Rounds.
• That win against Serbia was also their last win against a CEV team. They have lost four matches against CEV teams since, all in straight sets.
• Paul Carroll scored a match-high 20 points in their 3-1 loss to United States.

Belgium
• Belgium can suffer three successive World League defeats for the first time since their final three matches in the 2015 World League.
• They have now lost three matches this World League season, one shy of their total from last season.
• Gert Van Walle has the most points of all Belgians this season (80), including the most spikes (68).
• Simon Van De Voorde has 14 stuff blocks, twice as many as the next most stuff blocks of all Belgians (Pieter Verhees, 7).
