Australia desperate for points to avoid relegation

 

Dallas, USA, July 2, 2016 - USA and Australia meet at the FIVB Volleyball World League 2016 Group 1 tournament in Dallas on Saturday with different worries on their minds. The home side need to book their ticket for the finals in Poland, while Australia need to start winning points if they want to avoid relegation.

Head-to-Head
• United States have won both their previous two World League matches against Australia, both by a 3-1 scoreline and both after losing the opening set.
• These nations first met in the World League on 17 July 2014 and last clashed last week in Rome.
• USA have won all six matches against Australia in major competitions.

United States
• United States improved to six wins and one defeat on the season by beating Bulgaria 3-1 on Friday.
• This extended the team's winning streak to four, the side's longest string of victories since nine consecutive from July 2014 to June 2015.
• The US stood tall against Bulgaria, winning a total of 13 points off successful blocks.

Australia
• Australia are still looking for their first victory in the 2016 World League following a whitewash defeat against Russia on Friday.
• Australia have managed to win just one set this season, in their 3-1 defeat against United States on 25 June.
• Australia have lost 13 of their last 14 in the World League, their only victory in that span being the 3-2 against Serbia on 5 July 2015.
