Already qualified France and Brazil to lock horns in Nancy

 

Nancy, France, July 3, 2016 - Both France and Brazil have secured their spots in the FIVB Volleyball World League 2016 Group 1 finals, so for them their face-to-face encounter in Nancy on Sunday will be a dress rehearsal for the grand event in Krakow.

Head-to-Head
• France and Brazil have met 21 times before at the World League. France have won five times. Brazil have won on 16 occasions.
• France have only lost more World League matches against Italy (24) than against Brazil (16). They have also lost 16 times against Cuba.
• France have won their last two World League matches against Brazil, both by a 3-1 scoreline.

France
• France beat Poland 3-1 in Nancy on Saturday, claiming their sixth victory of this year's World League.
• France won the 2015 World League, losing only one match in the process (3-1 to United States in the group stages). They have already conceded two losses in 2016 (versus Belgium and Argentina).
• France have now won their last nine World League matches on home soil, since a 3-2 defeat against Argentina on 27 June 2014.
• Earvin Ngapeth was top scorer in France's 3-1 win over Poland, with 22 points (18 spikes).

Brazil
• Brazil came back from behind twice to beat Belgium 3-2 on Saturday. They have now won eight of their last nine World League matches. In this span, they only lost to Serbia on 23 June.
• It was Brazil's first five-set victory in 16 World League matches, since a 3-2 win over Serbia on 14 June 2015.
• Brazil have now won their last four World League matches and could record five consecutive victories in a single World League campaign for the first time since 2012.
• Wallace De Souza scored a team-high 23 points (21 spikes) for Brazil in their 3-2 win over Belgium.
